If you've looked at your bathroom and thought that it could really use an upgrade, now's a great time to get started on the project. While some upgrades will require a contractor, if you are feeling adventurous, here are three bathroom projects that you can do on your own.
Flooring
If your current flooring is starting to look dated or worn out, you can easily take out the old flooring and replace it with something new. Tile is the most durable flooring option, but luxury vinyl plank (as pictured) is another good bathroom flooring option. Tile can last 50 years or more. If you are unsure of your DIY skills, you may want to go with luxury vinyl plank since it is easier to install. It can still last 15 years or more, and by that time, you'll likely be ready for something new anyway.
Add a Television
If you like watching the news while getting ready in the morning or you'd like to relax in the tub while watching a movie, adding a television to your bathroom might be the perfect upgrade. Even if your television in not near any water sources, you will likely want to get a waterproof television. Otherwise, the moisture in your bathroom could damage your television.
Medicine Cabinet
If your bathroom doesn't already have one, add a medicine cabinet. You can get a wall-mounted cabinet, which you can likely install in roughly half a day. This project will likely require an assistant to help you lift the cabinet and to hold it while you're drilling. Despite its name, a medicine cabinet is for more than just medicine. You can put toothbrushes, deodorant, and other toiletries in it. This is a great way to save on counter space or other bathroom storage space, especially if you have a small bathroom.
Of course, with your upgraded bathroom, you'll likely also want an upgrade to your tub. At Pelham and White, we have an assortment of clawfoot, pedestal, and freestanding tubs. Contact us to find the perfect tub to complement your newly upgraded bathroom.
