Although a week in Tahiti, relaxing on its beaches and in its spas, may be enticing, it's not always practical or possible. Why let that be the end of it though. You can bring the essence of Tahiti to your own Pelham and White bathtub and luxuriate in the feel and scents of the island itself without ever leaving home.

All you have to do is create the exotic, tropical experience with just a few thoughtful details.

Create a flower bath. Flowers are part of the Tahitian culture and are incorporated into most everything, including baths. Perhaps the most famous flower on the island is the Tiare, or what is sometimes called the Tahitian gardenia. You may not be able to find the Tahitian Tiare in your hometown, but you can find gardenias. Other popular flowers include jasmine and hibiscus. Drop the blooms into your bath and let them float around you as you take in their scents while admiring their beauty. If actual flowers are not your thing, try finding bath oils, salts, or scrubs that carry these scents.

Create a vanilla isle. The vanilla orchid found on the island of Tahiti produces vanilla pods sought after all over the world. Seek out bath products made with the island's vanilla, then close your eyes and breath in the delicious scent.

Create a Monoi spa package. Monoi Oil is native to Tahiti and made by soaking the petals of Tahitian gardenias (Tiare) in coconut oil for approximately 15 days. But you don't need to do this yourself. There are several Monoi Oil products already out there for ready use.

Add the oil to your bath and ease yourself into the warm water. Massage a small amount of the Monoi Oil into your hair and leave for twenty minutes while you soak your stress away. This is said to lead to fewer dry, split ends, as well as help with dandruff. It may even stimulate hair growth.

After you dry off, and before you put on your pareo, slather your skin with the Monoi Oil to help your skin retain moisture and make you feel silky smooth.

Create a Coconut Hair Mask. If you can't find Monoi Oil, don't fret. The island has another secret - coconuts, and coconut oil is used in all the spas in Tahiti as well. Treat yourself to a coconut scented bath experience, including a coconut oil hair mask.

Try these separately, or in combination, and Tahiti, or at least the essence of Tahiti, is at your fingertips anytime you wish.
